Improving product quality through environmental testing
The importance of environmental testing
Improve product quality and customer confidence with Vötsch climate test cabinets
Product quality assurance
Environmental testing allows manufacturers to ensure that their products can perform reliably under different environmental conditions. By exposing products to extreme temperatures and humidity levels, manufacturers can identify any weaknesses or shortcomings and make necessary adjustments to improve product quality.
Lifetime prediction
By simulating different environmental conditions, environmental testing can help predict the lifespan of a product. By analyzing how the product reacts to different stresses and environmental conditions, manufacturers can estimate how long the product will be able to function effectively and identify potential weaknesses that could affect its lifespan.
Compliance with standards
Many industries have strict standards and regulations that products must meet. Environmental testing can help manufacturers ensure that their products meet these requirements. By conducting tests in accordance with specific standards, manufacturers can prove that their products meet reliability, safety and performance requirements under different environmental conditions.
Customer trust and reputation
By conducting environmental tests and ensuring their products can withstand various environmental impacts, manufacturers can build trust and strengthen their reputation among customers. Customers will have confidence that products are reliable and can perform effectively in different conditions, which can increase sales and customer satisfaction.

Ensuring product quality
Vötsch climate test cabinets and environmental testing in focus
Wide temperature range
Bolls ApS' Vötsch climate test cabinet, type VC 4034, enables climate testing in an impressive range from -45°C to +180°C. This extensive range makes it possible to simulate different environmental conditions and test product performance under extreme temperature conditions.
Precise control of humidity and temperature
With the ability to control both humidity and temperature, this climate test cabinet is ideal for performing a wide range of tests. It can maintain humidities from 10% to 98% in the temperature range of 10°C to 95°C and temperatures from -45°C to +180°C, ensuring accuracy and reliability in test results.
Efficiency and speed
With a temperature change of 3.5 K/min, test procedures can be performed efficiently and quickly. This rapid temperature change allows for faster test cycles, saving time and resources for customers.
Flexible testing options and customization
Bolls offers various testing options and rental options for our climate test cabinet, including the ability to rent with or without technician assistance as well as flexible pricing options based on test duration and requirements. In addition, we also offer testing in a smaller climate chamber with similarly impressive temperature ranges, providing further flexibility and customization to customer needs.

Corrosion test
Bolls has acquired a corrosion test chamber, also called HACT (Highly Accelerated Corrosion Test).
With this, it is possible to provoke corrosion in a very short time. This may cause any corrosion challenges to appear already with the manufacturer and not with the end user.
It is not the idea that the HACT test cabinet should simulate the real world, but rather provide an opportunity to compare products and their corrosion resistance.

Step 1
Introducing HSC 512
Citrotek ApS has developed the world's first stand-alone HACT chamber, called "High Speed Corroder" or HSC 512.
Previously it was only possible to perform HACT at the Danish test institute FORCE, but now companies can perform the test themselves.
Step 2
Comparative analysis
The purpose of the HACT test cabinet is not to simulate real environmental conditions, but to provide a comparative analysis of the corrosion resistance of products. This allows manufacturers to evaluate and improve the performance and durability of their products under different corrosion conditions.
Step 3
Specifications and capacity
The salt spray chamber has an impressive test volume of 512 liters and can accommodate test samples with maximum physical dimensions of H 580 mm x W 580 mm x D 700 mm. This allows for testing of different sizes and types of products.
Step 4
Controlled test conditions
With a test temperature of up to 70°C and humidity between 35% and 95%, corrosion tests can be performed under strictly controlled conditions. The set test time of 5-10 days ensures a reliable and efficient evaluation of the corrosion resistance of products.
FAQ
What is climate and corrosion testing?
Climate and corrosion tests are specialized testing methods that simulate different environmental conditions to assess how materials, components and products will perform and last over time. These tests expose products to extreme temperatures, humidity levels, salt spray and other corrosive environments to identify the potential for material degradation, malfunction or lifetime reduction. The aim is to ensure that products can withstand the conditions they will encounter in the real world, helping to improve product quality and reliability.
Why is environmental testing important for my product?
Environmental testing is essential to ensure that your product can withstand the specific conditions it will be exposed to throughout its lifetime. By identifying and correcting any weaknesses or defects before the product reaches the market, you can improve its quality, extend its lifespan and minimize the risk of warranty claims and recalls. This is not only crucial for product reliability, but also for building and maintaining customer trust and company reputation.
How long does a typical climate or corrosion test take?
The duration of a climate or corrosion test can vary significantly depending on the nature of the product, the specific test parameters and the standards to be met. Smaller, simplified tests can take from a few hours to a few days, while more extensive and detailed test runs that simulate longer exposure to environmental stressors can last weeks or even months. We work closely with our customers to customize the test plan to their specific needs and timeframes.
How can environmental testing predict the lifespan of a product?
Environmental testing predicts the lifespan of a product by accelerating the conditions it will be exposed to, thus accelerating the aging process. This provides insight into how materials and components will behave and potentially fail over time. By analyzing this data, manufacturers can identify weaknesses, improve product design and materials, and provide more accurate estimates of product life expectancy under normal usage conditions.
What standards and regulations do your test methods comply with?
Our test methods comply with a number of international and industry-specific standards and regulations, including ISO, ASTM, DIN, and IEC standards. By following these guidelines, we ensure that our test procedures comply with globally recognized criteria for quality, safety and reliability. This ensures that the test data we provide is both accurate and relevant to meet the requirements and expectations of our customers and their industries.
